"Potentials cannot be developed if my benefit is used for the interests and expectations of others." – Gerald Hüther
Based on 12 years of observations and experience with in-house learning worldwide, I have identified 7 key areas of school shortcomings:

Constant time pressure for teachers and students.
Major focus on logical learning, lack of time given for evolution of emotional intelligence, intuition & integrity (Tip: Jesper Juul on "integrity").
Modern hype of diagnosis and medical interventions.
Hierarchy of age, authority and mindset/school as a mechanism of economy and governments.
Blockages in visionary optimization and evolution of schools by parents – causing insecurity about new developments. Humans often appreciate what they know, even if what they experienced was of low value for themselves.
Early comparison in big groups of children (with all their advantages).
Daily term of “work” implemented too early.
Within Pocket Potentials we maintain mentor-student relationships as a base for lifelong learning. For me, the difference between a teacher and a mentor is following: The teacher represents an archetype of knowledge that needs to be implemented within a hierarchical relationship.
In contrast, the mentor is someone who provides a framework for shared creation. Imagine it like
a shelf, that is filled by the so-called students and mentors together
the white canvas, on which they then paint together
the ground on which all sit together, eye to eye.
Some practical basic tools (shelf, canvas, ground) as such are:
Ask the learning group for pre-concepts: "What do you know/feel/experience about...?"
Create placemats and mind maps individually and share with the group what wants to be shared
Offer ideas, concepts, material & natural habitat
Targeted questioning in group discussions, without any claim to truth and therefore build the bridge to independent research on self-selected subjects
A beautiful way to give attention to a learning person is to share the task, to do the work as well, to ask the same questions and to process together.
Because
A child brings curiosity.
Curiosity contains trust.
An adult provides experience.
Experience offers clarity.
Clarity is love.
And love is where potential evolves.
For growth and curiosity.
