Undone Body Work

Most of us have body parts that we "inhabit" less than others. By this, I mean that individual areas are more isolated from our sensations than others. Sensations are a deep tingling or goose bumps, a "release" and a "permeability in the tissue". It can feel like a torrent of water sloshing through the body or like gentle temperature differences that spread almost imperceptibly.
As a dancer & dance teacher dedicated to improvisation, for a long time I thought that I had a strong sense for my body. And yet I am currently taking a path to perceive my "house" more and more from the inside out. I experience wonderful moments when areas that have hardly been noticeable for a long time or were even prone to pain slowly feel lovingly integrated.
I am learning more and more (and in legendary baby steps) how “housing in my body” has a lot to do with a stable feeling of home within. How a sustainable connection to Self depends on it. Without a need for compensation. A long way to go.
That's something we can't do. We can only allow it and support it with mental training. And it happens when I can “listen” particularly well. When my nervous system could shut down to a last necessity – allow that for a second! It´s not always easy.
I call this part of my work "Movement" because it's much more than dance and show. It's dance and sometimes it's show and first of all there is movement within you (not speaking about emotions here per se). And around you. In dance, I can practice feeling the movement within me and expressing it. I can learn to master the movement around me.
How many times have I experienced that my own movement training has helped me to make the next move in my life. Making choices from a feeling of spontaneity and lightness.
The connection between flexibility within the body, the vastness in the mind, the range of motion of my body and my openness to everyday life is enormous. Unbeatable.
And that's why I combine everything I have learned and practiced about bodywork and neuroscience-oriented coaching with my great passion, dance, which has accompanied me all my life.
